A 10 day workshop devised by tutors Maria Pina Bentivenga (Rome Academy of Fine Arts) and Umberto Giovannini (Central Saint Martins) who have collaborated on interdisciplinary artistic projects for story-telling and theatre.
Xilo Reportage, Telling the Memory is a collaborative project for a group of 10 students (5 from Central Saint Martins and 5 from Rome Academy of Fine Arts) which encourages a playful approach to illustration and story-telling and foregrounds the sharing of ideas and skills.
Students and tutors live and work together in the Opificio della Rosa in the beautiful setting of the medieval Castle of Montefiore Conca. Over the course of 10 days, the participants develop a series of woodcuts based on stories from their own life experience. The aim through the project is to move private experience towards universal understanding.
The experimental illustration workshop with photography and woodcut takes place 15-24 July 2017 at Printmaking Centre Opificio della Rosa, Castle of Montefiore in Italy.
